The February 2020 Allure Beauty Box: See All the Product Samples You Could Get This Month

It's February, and as the gods of Hallmark have decreed: It is time to celebrate love. And there is nothing Allure loves more than sharing a box of carefully curated beauty goodies. This month, we've lined up everything from an intensely hydrating mask to an amazingly luminizing highlighter. In between, you'll find universally flattering lipsticks that our testers refused to return and a sheet mask that smells like flowers. Use it when you need a morning pick-me-up, or perhaps after celebrating one of the month's other crucial holidays: National Shower With a Friend Day (February 5, if you're interested in participating).

New Member Gift: Giorgio Armani Rouge D’Armani Matte & Lip Maestro Duo

      Value: $21

Lipstick: "This timeless shade is so tied to the brand that it mirrors their red lipstick cases. Its creation myth is that Giorgio himself believed it was the 'perfect' red, reproduced in the lab from a flawless red rose he had brought his chemists. 'I've never been one for rules, but 400 is the perfect universal red. There is no better,' international Giorgio Armani makeup artist Linda Cantello says."

Liquid Lipstick: "Though it looks like a run-of-the-mill liquid lipstick, this formula offers a touch more flexibility and a lot more moisture. It delivers all the long-lasting, intense, opaque color you typically expect, but without any Sahara-dry aftereffects (it actually feels quite plush and comfortable). Apply it in the morning and, while you may need a little touch-up after lunch, this formula will get you through the workday without smudging or feathering."

BareMinerals Skinlongevity Vital Power Infusion Serum

      Value: $58

"My face has always been pretty good at enduring winter, but this year it was as if my skin thought the world was ending. Sallow yellow invaded pink undertones. The bounce in my cheeks gave way to harsh redness. Makeup lost its ability to stick. I was itchy and tight and puffy. Using this watery serum between the toning and moisturizing steps in my twice-daily routine proved to be the extra kick of hydration and anti-inflammation I needed (but just wasn't getting from my creams, masks, and other serums). I reach for it every day now, not only for the summery glow it provides, but also for its citrusy, floral scent." — Nicola Dall'asen, digital staff writer

NYX Pro Powder Brush (02), NYX Pro Contour Brush (05), and NYX Multi-Purpose Buffing Brush (03)*

      Value: $14 to $17

"I cherish my makeup tools like they are my children — and nothing compares to the blending abilities of Nyx's Pro Powder Brush, Pro Contour Brush, and Pro Multi-Purpose Buffing Brush. Their synthetic bristles, as soft as a puppy's ears, create a seamless finish that my fingers just can't. The Pro Contour Brush (center) is the most versatile of the bunch. When you swirl the tiny, fluffy, rounded brush in tight, circular motions, foundation, concealer, and contouring products become airbrushed. The Pro Multi-Purpose Buffing Brush (right) is amazing for depositing and smoothing pigments onto skin. The bristles are densely packed in a larger, rounded shape to blend in foundation with more intensity than a fluffier version. And the Pro Powder Brush (left) is my favorite for blush and highlighter." — Devon Abelman, digital beauty editor

      Wander Beauty After Hours Highlighter

      Value: $30

"Back when I was a budding beauty editor, highlighter wasn't a thing. No, really. Take the Allure Best of Beauty Awards, a barometer of the beauty culture if ever there were one: In 2002, there was no highlighter category. Ten years ago: one winner. Last year: six (liquid, gloss, cream, stick, powder, and palette). Highlighter has become a makeup basic. My glow-making arsenal has grown to include many options, but I always come back to powders — I find them the easiest to control, and they stick around. My most recent favorite is Wander Beauty's After Hours. The shade is a silvery pearl that glints off the planes of my face without looking greasy. Wander’s whole MO is easy and on-the-go, and this formula is no exception.

On harried mornings (most mornings), I rub a finger over the silky powder and tap it along my cheekbones, curving up and over my temples. Usually there’s just enough left to press into the inner corners of my eyes, and suddenly, good morning! It's a surefire wake-up call, and the highlighter of my day." — Jenny Bailly, executive beauty director

      Honey Jarret Super Beau'Tea Mask

      Value: $3

"The first thing I notice about Honey Jarret’s Super Beau'tea sheet mask: the appealing pink-lemonade shade. Next, the scent — strong, but not offensively so — reminds me of the Brooklyn Botanic Garden. Infused with rose and tea extracts, the formula’s texture is lightweight and slick but not wet, making it easy to forget it's even on. I kill time by reading about how honeybee swarms use collective decision making to scout a new hive location (a fitting topic given Honey Jarret's name and the brand’s commitment to clean beauty). The timer rings. I remove my sheet mask, and voilà! I have a newly refreshed and rejuvenated complexion." — Sam Escobar, digital editorial director

Belif Peat Miracle Revital Eye Cream*

      Value: $58

"This eye cream is made with peat extract, thought to be made from the buildup of organic material over centuries (and potentially useful in the treatment of rosacea). But this is more than just a jar of ancient dirt; it also contains velvety shea butter, and no less than three Napiers the Herbalists formulas, designed by the family of Duncan Napier, a Victorian herbalist with an enduring legacy. I suspect it is these herbal formulas that make this a superlatively hydrating eye cream (despite the fact that Napier also made a floral cough syrup that took months to work). Time is, perhaps, one of the unnamed ingredients in Belif's peat eye cream. Don’t be surprised if it manages to turn back the clock — I tried to warn you." — Brennan Kilbane, senior writer

      Belif Aqua Bomb Sleeping Mask*

      Value: $34

"This mask is an extension of Belif's popular Aqua Bomb line and shares a star ingredient with its anchor product, the True Cream: Lady's Mantle, an antioxidant-rich herb popular for calming redness, "used since medieval times by European women," according to the description. This formula also includes Scottish heather, also known as calluna, another proven skin-soother. The result is the equivalent of chasing an Ativan with a glass of wine, but for your skin — any redness recedes, and roughness reverts to baby levels of smoothness. I woke up with skin as clear as that of a young and healthy medieval European woman. One thing: The mask is not particularly hydrating, which is why I recommend layering it under your moisturizer. It is called a sleeping mask, but none of its ingredients suggest it can only be worn at night. Wear it at any time." — Brennan Kilbane, senior writer

Belif The True Cream Aqua Bomb*

      Value: $38

"I've lost count of how many times I’ve restocked my beloved Belif moisturizer. The gel-like formula absorbs in seconds, gives skin a rush of hydration, and helps me look smooth and poreless. It's got calming ingredients (calendula, oat kernel extract), and the natural lemongrass scent is so soothing, I wish I had a candle version of it." —Devon Abelman, Beauty Reporter

Cargo Cosmetics Essential Lip Color* (shades may vary)

      Value: $22

"I've never been to Sedona, but Cargo's lipstick of the same name (shown here) is making me want to book a ticket to Arizona ASAP. The coral-meets-tomato hue puts me in a good mood — as does this entire line of lipstick. The Essential Lip Colors are creamy with intense pigmentation (one coat, done) and a vibrancy that makes my lips look plumper. The color stays fresh and fun for hours. You'll get one of 9 shades in your box: Bordeaux and Napa, for example, are wine-toned burgundies; Paris is a classic brick-toned red; Kyoto, a rich cherry-blossom pink; Palm Beach, a sunny coral that takes me to palm-tree-lined streets." — Devon Abelman, digital beauty reporter

Appeal Cosmetics Luxurious Lipstick in Muse*

      Value: $21

"This lipstick is more of a rose than a nude (what the hell does "nude" mean, anyway?). But it's not a rose in the wild. This is an aspirational rose, a brownish rose that looks regal, a glossy color that swipes on easily and blends, lending a tint of color without any opacity. This color elevates without disguising. It's not a glamour red or a flirty pink, a serious brown or a playful violet or blue. This shade is more essential. This color has already measured the dimensions of your bag and made room next to your wallet and keys. It will be a staple." — Cotton Codinha, senior beauty features editor
