London Fashion Week, for the first time ever, won't have in-person audiences. Even when models walked down the runway set up at Tate Modern for Bora Aksu, not a spectator was in sight. Everyone was watching the floral-faced ladies strut from the comfort of their couches. (With this freezing weather, it's almost a welcome change.)

But as you may have gleaned from that last sentences, the hair and makeup at LFW are just as experimental and exciting as every season that has come before fall 2021. These looks at Vivienne Westwood, Molly Goddard, and Matty Bovan — just to name a few — are packing the exact level of playfulness we need during this difficult time to encourage us to go beyond our comfort zones with beauty.

Go grab some flowers, colorful liners, and your favorite pigmented blush — you're going to need these fun supplies to recreate the beauty moments you're about to feast your eyes on.

      Simone Rocha: Monochrome and Twists

Nineties grunge gets a 2021 revival with makeup artist Lauren Parson's single-toned rust look at Simone Rocha. The same burnished hue was blended onto lids, lips, and cheeks without any extra accoutrements like mascara. Lead hairstylist Cyndia Harvey braided the models' hair and fashioned them into loops and twists.

      Halpern: Choppy Layers

The choppy, block-layered haircut we've seen on K-pop star HyunA and at Prada last season made an appearance at Halpern alongside black winged liner and balmy lips. The bluntness of the cut absolutely calls for sharp cat-eyes and cushy lips, if you ask us.

      Art School: Mullet and Spikes

As makeup artist Andrew Gallimore declared on his Instagram, model Finn Buchanan was beautifully "adorned in thorns" for Art School. Cascading chrome spikes were adhered to his chest, while hairstylist Shon Ju perfected his teal mullet.

Molly Goddard: Fantastic Frizz and Flush

The frizziness and over-the-top blush were intentional for Molly Goddard. Consider it an '80s look for 2021. Hairstylist Luke Hersheson added major volume and texture to the models' long hair to coordinate with the flouncy dresses. Makeup artist Miranda Joyce followed suit by sweeping intensely pigmented fuchsia blush in a C-shape around their temples for her take on draping. Maroon shadow was also blended onto the models' lids and a matching lipstick was swiped on to round out the monochromatic moment.

      Ahluwalia: Cobalt Contouring

Swaths of blue pigment topped random high and low points to models' faces for a fun multidimensional effect by British makeup artist Bari Khalique. The look was like electricity-free mood lighting.

      Osman

      Osman: Golden Details

Gold was the highlight of this look at Osman. Hairstylist Ryo Narushima incorporated the metallic hue into his stunning sculpture of sorts with ringed accents. Makeup artist Porsche Poon added it with a dewy highlighter and gloss on the model's lids.

      Mark Fast: Disco Ball Eyes

The only element shinier than the sleek, side-parted hair (courtesy of stylist Maria Kovacs) at Mark Fast was the models' silvery eye makeup. Pablo Rodriguez, the lead makeup artist, coated their lids in silver shadow before placing chunky flecks of glitter along their lash lines like 3D liner.

      Vivienne Westwood
      8/10

      Vivienne Westwood: Rough Rouge

Nothing was subtle or natural about the blush for Vivienne Westwood. Makeup artist Pablo Rodriguez swept harsh patches of Rococo-inspired scarlet rouge onto the cheeks of models to emulate the elegance of French portraits of that era. Melodrama and Bouffe from Illamasqua's Experimental Artistry Palette were his powders of choice. Sausage curls by hairstylist Anthony Turner accompanied the makeup to elevate the 18th-century vibes.

      Matty Bovan: Abstract Eyes

New York Fashion Week might have been all about black liner, but LFW is proving to be more colorful. At Matty Bovan, strokes of white and baby blue were painted onto this models' lids like a stunning van Gogh masterpiece. Try the look out yourself with the Marc Jacobs Beauty Highliner Gel Eye Crayon Eyeliners.

      Bora Aksu: Floral Under Eyes

Gorgeous blooms were sliced in half and glued underneath models' eyes at Bora Aksu as a genius, new way to cover up dark circles. Makeup artist Janeen Witherspoon kept the rest of their makeup fresh and minimalist with brushed-up brows and mascara-free lashes. Hairstylist Daniel Martin, on the other hand, fashioned their hair into braided loops to keep their hair out of their faces in an unexpected way.
