I've lost count of how many times I've restocked my beloved Belif The True Cream Aqua Bomb. Over the past couple years, I've gone back to the K-beauty staple over and over again. It's kind of like an on-and-off-again boyfriend. Sometimes we take breaks, but we always end up back together at some point.
The reason why we part ways occasionally is very reasonable, though.
During the summer, The True Cream Aqua Bomb's consistency is a hydrating, lightweight dream come true. The gel-like formula absorbs in seconds, leaving skin feeling instantly refreshed. You'll even notice that it has a cooling sensation, a characteristic that is much appreciated on hot summer days in New York City. I've had to hold myself back from adding a third and fourth layer of the moisturizer. Imagine someone lobbing a water balloon at your face — minus the pain and shock of it popping — that's how slathering on The True Cream Aqua Bomb feels. It gives skin that kind of rush of hydration. Scientifically speaking, moisturizing ingredients like plantin, ceramides, and shea butter help make that happen.
The baby blue-tinted gel moisturizer is also packed with calming ingredients, like calendula and oat kernel extract, along with lady's mantle, which helps make skin look smooth and poreless. Many K-pop stars won't admit it due to endorsement deals, but The True Cream Aqua Bomb is often their favorite formula for helping give their skin their trademark glass-skin glow.
When winter comes around, I leave The True Cream Aqua Bomb for its fraternal twin: The True Cream Moisturizing Bomb. The thicker, heftier formula better offers up the nourishment I need when my skin goes from oily to flaky.
Not everyone switches up The True Cream formulas according to the seasons, however. My best friend Celina swears by it during the winter months and also keeps constantly restocking it. "My mom compliments my skin when I use Belif, and my mom does not like to compliment my skin," Celina texted me recently. I, too, can attest to how dewy and radiant it makes Celina's skin look.
We're both fans of the Belif The True Cream Aqua Bomb's light, natural lemongrass scent, too. I wish I had a candle version of it — although, I can't promise I'd burn it all year long; it would most certainly get swapped out for my favorite peppermint candle once the colder months begin.
