The original Creme of Nature Perfect Edges is a product I've been using for YEARS. I can thank my mother for turning me on to it — and once she did, I never looked at another edge-control product again (even the one I'd been using on a regular basis), because Creme of Nature's was just that good. The heavenly smell and the fact that it doesn't flake off or leave any annoying residue throughout the day was all I needed to make a permanent switch. And now, for those extra unruly edges, Creme of Nature has blessed us with this.
Perfect Edges Extra Hold is just like the regular Perfect Edges, but with a bit more muscle. It's got that same hard but gelatinous texture as the original. Last time I used this, I applied it on my extremely damp, nearly soaking-wet strands to pull back a side section of my hair, letting the rest fly free. To say I was pleased with the results is an understatement. This stuff held down my edges — which usually fluff up by the end of the day — and left that one section of hair with that kind of wet and wavy texture it had from my (admittedly haphazard) styling that morning. And I think that's a testament to how well it works. Because even though the bobby pins all came loose (I told you it was haphazard), that one section stayed slicked down the entire day.
The only drawback to this is something that has nothing to do with the product and everything to do with me being too heavy-handed with the edge gel sometimes. If you apply too much on a single section, your hair will really stick together, so I'd suggest warming the gel up between your fingers before applying and brushing down your hair. Perfect Edges Extra Hold I think would work well with all types of hair, but if you have a looser texture, I would definitely not be as generous with it as I am on my own head.
What's sweeter than how well it works? The price. You can pick it up for $5.49. Not bad for a wonder product!
