A natural shampoo that hydrates your hair (and scalp) with nourishing ingredients, including coconut oil, shea butter, and tamanu-seed oil

I've always had a pretty minimal hair-care routine. Shampoo, conditioner, a little dry shampoo here and there, and that's it. Rarely do I use styling products, hot tools, or masks (although I should probably consider the latter, TBH). There's no real reason for my minimalism other than the fact that I am extremely hair-care lazy (I'm sorry, hair!), but that's OK — at least I keep it clean with products that are good for my hair and the environment, like the organic Innersense Hydrating Cream Hairbath.

Innersense Hydrating Cream Hairbath (aka shampoo) is the first natural shampoo I've ever tried — and honestly I wasn't expecting much out of this one at first. Sure, the sulfate-free listing on the label had me hyped, but could a shampoo touted as "natural" really give my fine, color-treated hair and oily scalp a washing as good as those quick-foaming formulas found in the drugstore? Short answer: absolutely.

The Hydrating Cream Hairbath is made with equal parts hydrating and nourishing ingredients, including coconut oil, shea butter, and tamanu-seed oil, to mildly cleanse while softening at the same time — without stripping hair's natural oils. As for the shampoo itself, it has a creamy, gel-like texture (if that makes sense), meaning it doesn't weigh down my hair as I'm lathering up in the shower. When massaging it into my hair, I found it provides somewhat of a frothy experience, but nothing like the foam party you'd expect from a nonnatural shampoo formula.

Still, my hair felt clean after rinsing. Not crazy, stripped clean but clean enough to move onto the conditioner portion of my shower knowing I successfully scrubbed the hell out of my hair and scalp. So, yes, you can get an epic clean with a natural shampoo — you just need to find the right one. And if you ask me, the right one is hands down Innersense Hydrating Cream Hairbath.
