  • What It Is: A long-wear mascara
  • What It Does: Lengthens and volumizes
  • Who It's For: People who want easily removable longwear mascara

About a year ago, I challenged myself to test almost 100 mascaras. I tried one a day for an entire summer, and only about a quarter of those made my final list of Mascaras I Actually Like. Rodial's Glamolash XXL Mascara was one of those unicorns: It's a super black formula that adds loads of volume and length without any clumping (essentially, all my ideal qualities).

Rodial was founded 10 years ago by former beauty editor Maria Hatzistefanis. It started as a skin care line, but expanded into makeup in 2015. The Glamolash XXL Mascara is only one of two mascara formulas the company sells. Clearly, the goal here is quality over quantity — and Rodial succeeded.

Glamolash contains beeswax for lash conditioning, carnauba wax to help prevent clumping, and collagen that adds extra shine. The formula is super inky, so it slicks on easily and evenly coats lashes on the first swipe. Building it up is a breeze, too: On a normal day, I add three layers to get the volume I like and have never had to deal with clumping.

This mascara is billed as a long-wear formula and, unlike many volumizing mascaras, I can confirm there’s almost no fallout on my face by the end of the day — even with those three layers piled on. Although the brush is the thick style you usually find on volumizing mascaras, its thinner tip makes it easy to apply to my bottom lashes as well.

A bonus aspect of this near-perfect mascara? Even though it’s long-lasting, it’s easy to remove at the end of the day. I’m a regular double cleanser, and have had no issues getting Glamolash off with my oil cleanse step.
