TL;DR:
  • What It Is: A makeup remover and cleanser hybrid made with hyaluronic acid, vitamin C, and micelles
  • What It Does: Gently removes makeup and grime from the day
  • Who It's For: All skin types, even sensitive

So you hate makeup removers, huh? I've been there. After years and years of trying — and failing miserably — to find a makeup remover that wouldn't irritate my wildly sensitive skin, I was finally (finally!) introduced to the Best of Beauty-winning Simple's Kind to Skin Micellar Cleansing Water. And I'm never looking back.

The multi-purpose makeup remover and facial cleanser became an instant staple in my skin-care routine after a fellow beauty editor friend of mine recommended it to me while I was lamenting about my struggle to find a formula that works for my finicky, easily irritated complexion. "It literally just feels like water on your skin, but it takes everything off," I can clearly recall her saying. She was right.

It has a unique light-as-air consistency that does feel uncannily similar to water — or to that of a featherlight serum. And it contains ingredients my skin loves, like hydrating glycerin and vitamin C, which keep the skin supple and bright. As far as the actual cleansing aspect is concerned, it uses tiny "magnets," if you will, called micelles, that help break down makeup, as well as extract dirt, oil, and other debris from your pores. It leaves skin clean, but not in a squeaky way, if you get what I mean.

It's also safe for all skin types — even reactive complexions like mine — as it's free of potentially irritating chemicals, synthetic fragrance and dyes, as well as alcohol. When I apply it to my skin, which I tend to do at night to both remove any trace makeup from the day (not that I've been wearing much lately, but still) and gently cleanse, it never, ever stings my skin or burns my eyes. Instead, it leaves my complexion calmer and softer with a refreshing clean-but-not-stripped feel.
