A lengthening vegan mascara that instantly adds volume to lashes (without clumps) to give you a wide-eyed effect

If you're ever unsure if your mascara is really putting in its best work for you, I just figured out an easy tip: Do all of your makeup except for your mascara. Next, apply it to only one of your eyes. Then take a selfie.

I recently went through these steps with the Tarte Tarteist Lash Paint Mascara. When I stared at my selfie, I noticed half my face looked like it got 12 hours of sleep after a spa trip, bought a puppy, and was named the ceo of a Fortune 500 company. OK, so maybe only one of those things was true, but I'm not exaggerating when I say this mascara does wonders for not only my lashes but also my entire face.

The Tarte Tarteist Lash Paint Mascara helps your full face undergo this complete transformation quite simply. Its wand touts short, widely spaced bristles made out of a synthetic material (as opposed to bushy, fiber-like bristles). As you pull it through your lashes, it evenly coats every single lash with pitch-black pigment, which is vegan, BTW. All the while, the mascara simultaneously separates and lengthens lashes. The separation is key here because you're sure to stay clump-free with this wand. Plus, the fanned-out lash look makes my small, almond-shaped eyes look particularly wide.

To add extra volume to your lashes, let your lashes dry between coats. I also suggest wiggling the wand against the root of your lashes before swiping it all the way through to the ends. From there, you can also brush the mascara onto your lower lashes. Typically, I despise doing so because it forever makes me look like a raccoon. However, the mini bristles maneuver around the lower lash line perfectly without causing any annoying smudges or chunkiness. Maybe finally being able to wear mascara on my lower lashes is what changed my look — or maybe it was this mascara's awesomeness in general. I'll let you be the judge.
