Laura Mercier Launches Setting Powder for the Glow Generation

Glow, don't shine, in two steps from Laura Mercier.

Whoever said "if it ain't broke, don't fix it," hasn't tried the latest launch from Laura Mercier. Makeup artists have long sworn by the brand's Translucent Loose Setting Powder, and now, they're changing the game even further with a setting powder that promises to set down shine and set up radiance. Please welcome Laura Mercier Translucent Loose Setting Powder — Glow, a setting powder devoted to keeping your skin luminous and smooth but with zero oil buildup. We already know you want glowing skin, but this powder does double duty and makes sure that skin is luminous, not shiny. It's even formulated for twelve hours of weightless wear, which means an all-day glow up.

If setting powder helps create the perfect canvas, then its sexy little sister, the Translucent Loose Setting Powder — Glow, comes in to create eye-catching dimension. The second generation of the brand's OG setting powder, it was developed specifically to keep shine at bay while still allowing for glowy goodness. Use TLSP Glow to highlight the high points of your face, leaving skin with a radiant, healthy-looking glow. It's perfect for the areas of your face on which you want to impart luminosity, like the cheekbones and center of the chin. And while the glow may look natural, it's actually a result of silky smooth powder and sheer, even wear. Of course, "sheer" means a completely different shade depending on your skin type. TLSP - Glow has planned for that with two shades: Translucent for fair to medium skin tones and Translucent Medium Deep for medium to dark complexions. Everyone, of course, deserves to glow.

That new new from TLSP - Glow may have all our attention at the moment, but thankfully, it works in tandem with the classic TLSP that you likely have stashed in your makeup bag right now. Since the first formula launched, it's been a makeup artist favorite thanks to its ability to keep skin shine-free for hours and hours. The finely-milled, silky loose powder tamps down oil, blurs pores, and softly covers up imperfections. What it doesn't do is change the texture of your skin or result in embarrassing flashback when the light hits it. The good news is that TLSP Glow has all the same skin-perfecting power as the original, but with the added bonus of translucent shimmer. That sound you hear is the makeup artists in your life scrambling to add TLSP Glow to their kits.

Ahead, we share our best tips for how to lock in luminous makeup throughout the whole face, from forehead to cheeks to nose to chin, using both TLSP Glow and TLSP.

FOREHEAD

Start by sprinkling a bit of Translucent Loose Setting Powder into the lid of the jar. Choose the Laura Mercier Glow Powder Brush or an angled makeup brush to apply. Use the top curve of your brush to pick up the powder, making sure to desaturate it on the back of your hand or tap it over a wastebasket to keep powder evenly distributed through the bristles. Sweep and buff it all over the forehead, blotting down shine and smoothing any uneven texture. For a subtler finish, swap out your makeup brush for the brand's Velour Puff. One puff's worth of product should do it — no need to over-powder.

CHEEKS

Use Translucent Loose Setting Powder - Glow on the high points of the face; it'll help reflect light and leave skin looking naturally luminous. For a softer glow, grab a fan brush; if you want ring light-worthy highlight, use a round-top highlighter brush. After the same product-into-lid tapping process, swipe TLSP Glow across cheekbones and the apples of cheeks and blend into the high points of the face.

NOSE

The powder has a two-pronged effect here: Setting Powder helps soak up any excess oil, while Glow gives the nose dimension. Tap TLSP along the sides of the nostrils and anywhere your skin gets oily, using a blending brush that's small enough to fit in the crevices around your nose (ones made for blending eye shadow should suffice). Then apply a line of Glow from the bridge to about halfway down your nose, adding an additional dot right at the tip, and blend, blend, blend.

CHIN

For a cohesive look, make sure to highlight all the high points of your face — and that includes the chin. Start with Translucent Loose Setting Powder all over the chin to keep oiliness at bay, then apply Translucent Loose Setting Powder - Glow directly to the chin's center, all the better to help your face catch the light.
