There's no item in the world that can make a person feel as rich and powerful as an iconic and rare Birkin bag by Hermès — at least that's what I assume because I'll probably never have that kind of money. Most people won't. However, the luxury fashion designer is making its high-profile products a little more accessible by entering the cosmetics sphere. The internet's been anticipating the arrival of the first Hermès beauty products for months, and on March 4, a whole arsenal of lip products finally made their debut.

The brand's permanent line features a lip balm, a lip brush, a lip pencil, and 24 lipstick shades in varying finishes. For good measure, Hermès has simultaneously dropped an additional spring lipstick collection with three limited-edition shades that each have their own unique packaging.

A disclaimer: Most of these are available online from Hermès, Bergdorf Goodman, and Neiman Marcus — but sadly, many have quickly sold out and are still awaiting restock. You might have better luck finding them in a Hermès boutique or a brick-and-mortar location of either department store. Allure has contacted the brand to confirm a restock date and has yet to receive a response, but that doesn't make these lipsticks any less fun to look at.

Hermès refers to its permanent lipstick selection as "24 shades of red," which sounds super-catchy, but a more accurate description would be a fleet of reds, pinks, oranges, and nudes, in soft, subtle, bold, and bright hues. The range is split down the middle between satin and matte finishes; both provide one-swipe pigment and lasting comfort. In other words, it's like wearing the soft goatskin lining of an Hermès bag on your mouth. At $67 each, they're certainly a splurge, but compare that to a couple hundred thousand for an Hermès bag and it suddenly seems like a bargain.

The limited-edition collection includes a deep satin violet, a bright satin coral-pink, and a soft matte coral-pink. There's also a lip gloss in a sheer orange hue called Poppy Lip Shine. Of course, for all of these lip colors, you'll need a matching lip balm for prep, a lip liner for durability, and a lip brush for precision — and Hermès has created one of each. The lip balm, also $67, is packed with camellia wax for hydration. The Universal Lip Pencil, $42, is a colorless wax pencil that can be used on any skin tone, with any lip shade. The $75 lip brush is made from short, dense, synthetic fibers on a hand-painted wooden base.
