There are many reasons to buy a dry shampoo. Oily hair, limited time, and spaced-out wash days are the most common, but for fans of hairstylist Jen Atkin's Ouai Super Dry Shampoo, there's a new one: fragrance.
In a brilliant move of millennial-favorite brand synergy, Ouai and Byredo have partnered up for a limited-edition version of Atkin's dry shampoo. The collaboration features the dry shampoo formula that's been a Ouai staple since the brand launched in 2016, formulated with Byredo's Mojave Ghost scent. If it sounds like a mash-up of two of your favorite things, then you have something in common with Atkin, who chased down Byredo to make it happen.
Fragrance has always been a major part of Ouai's DNA — after all, this is a hair brand that has its own perfume range and scented dog shampoo. "When we were formulating and figuring out our scents back in 2015, I didn't want it to smell like typical hair products, with that cough syrupy, bubble gum, or Grandma smell. I wanted a cool perfume that I wanted to wear," Atkin tells me over Zoom.
Cut to five years later, and she has a fragrance-forward hair-care empire on her hands, so it only makes sense that Ouai would partner with Byredo and its woody, clean Mojave Ghost, a scent that's at least one Allure editor's "all-time favorite fragrance."
